boneless beef chuck roast (3 1/2 to 4 lb), cut crosswise into 1/4-inch slices

large onion, chopped (1 cup)

cloves garlic, finely chopped

cup packed brown sugar

teaspoons ground mustard

teaspoon chili powder

teaspoon paprika

cup vinegar

1/3

cup Worcestershire sauce

tablespoons lemon juice

cups ketchup

sandwich buns, split

Preparation

In 3- to 4-quart slow cooker, mix all ingredients except buns.

Cover; cook on Low heat setting 5 to 6 hours, stirring occasionally. Cut off top of each bun; pull some of bread out of each bun. Fill buns with beef mixture.
