Have this classic homemade French toast recipe ready in under 20 minutes! Thick slices of bread dipped into a sweetened egg mixture and cooked in butter until golden and brown on the outside yet fluffy on the inside.

BEST BREAD FOR FRENCH TOAST?
The type of bread you use is the key to achieve the perfect toast slices. We always suggest using bread that isn’t fresh (a few days old is best). Here are some great breads you can use:
TEXAS TOAST– The thickness of texas toast is what you want for French toast!BRIOCHE BREAD– This is our go-to bread for this recipe and it’s a classic. Brioche bread is dense and great for soaking.FRENCH BREAD– If you want to use french bread and slice it into thick slices.CHALLAH BREAD– Also works great, just slice into about 1-inch thick slices.HOMEMADE BREAD– You can also use our homemade braided bread or Russian bread for this recipe if you have any leftover bread.BASIC SANDWICH BREAD– You may even use a classic sandwich bread just dip quickly.
HOW TO MAKE FRENCH TOAST-
This recipe is really quick to make and you want to make sure your sides are ready for the French toast so you can serve immediately once cooked.
Whisk together: In a bowl, whisk the eggs then add the milk, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla. Whisk until creamy and combined. (TIP: We love using a pie dish for easier dipping.)Dip bread: Using tongs, dip a slice of bread into the egg mixture and flip, making sure the entire slice is fully soaked, add to a plate. Repeat with all bread slices.Heat skillet: Preheat skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.Cook bread: Add dredged bread slices into the skillet and fry until browned. Flip and cook the other side until golden (about 3-4 minutes per side).Serve: Serve immediately with desired toppings.
