For a groom who has two brothers or two really good friends, it can be a struggle to choose just one best man. Here’s some good news: There’s no rule that says you have to tap just one guy to be your head attendant. In fact, having two best men is not only perfectly acceptable from an etiquette standpoint, but it’s also the easiest way to honor two important people in your life. To keep everything clear-from responsibilities to attire-here are a few things you need to know about having multiple best men in your wedding.

It’s typical for the best man to head up the bachelor party activities, a groom’s lunch, and to be part of the planning board for any other pre-wedding activities that involve the wedding party. If there are two best men on board, they can either choose to work together with the planning of these events or divvy up the tasks so they each have a fingerprint on the events. There’s also the option to each take on one of the celebrations as the main organizer.
At most weddings, the groomsmen and best man all wear matching attire. In the case of having two best men, your guys can follow tradition. They might also help with selecting and coordinating the attire, as well as encouraging all the groomsmen to hit the tailor prior to the wedding.
The big wedding day tasks for the best men include keeping an eye on the timeline while the guys get ready, carrying the rings, signing the marriage certificate as a witness, and giving a toast. The groom can decide who will manage each of these tasks, or may opt to assign some of these to another groomsman or family member. Just be sure you’re in communication with the groom so you know who’s on what base.
